Features

  • Ultra lightweight designed to fit nearly every manual chair.  Our shock absorbing fork is comparable to traditional parts so there is no net weight increase.

  • Suspension fork uses a "hinge" design encapsulating an energy-absorbing polyurethane cylinder pre-loaded for the rider's weight. The cylinder will flex to eliminate vibration and soften bumps by absorbing the force created when the front wheel strikes an object.

  • Allows 2 inches of arch travel so wheel can lift back, up and over obstacles to minimize pitching.

  • Fits 3, 4, 5 or 6 inch diameter wheel up to 1.5 inches wide.

  • Available in black or silver as standard colors. Some custom colors available by contacting our customer service department.

  • Aproved HCFA codes, E1015R and E1015L

Specifications

  • For best performance the shock absorbing fork must be tuned to the wheelchair rider's weight.  Frog Legs offers cylinders in a variety of densities to insure a ride that is tight and confident.
    Why is weight important

  • Will not change the wheelchair's foot to floor dimensions. Custom stem bolt lengths are available to accommodate a variety of geometry requirements.
Please note that the Ultra-Sport fork requires a minimum 5 inch Caster Barrel to Floor height (CBTF)
    What is CBTF

  • Available in both bearing in housing style and traditional style where the fork's stembolt attaches into the chair's caster barrel housing.

  • Use your existing wheels or upgrade to wide Frog Legs EPIC Soft Roll wheels for even more off-road capabilities.

  • All forks CNC machined of 6061-T6 aluminum

  • 1144 steel stress-proof clear zinc plated hollow flanged studs (stem bolts) available in both metric and imperial measurements.

  • Hinge, axle pins, and screws are stainless steel.

  • Teflon-impregnated nylon bushings within the hinge improves pivoting abilities.

  • Bearing-in-fork design contains 6001 double-sealed, 12mm id bearings or 2R8RS double-sealed ½ inch id bearings.

  • Lifetime limited warranty on fork with exception of bearings and urethane polymer cylinder. Bearings will need to be replaced periodically due to normal wear. Under normal use, the polymer component holds its shock absorbing ability for 5 to 7 years. Replacement polymers are readily available at nominal cost and are easily installed.

CBTF picture

CBTF? That is shorthand for 'Caster Barrel to Floor' height and it impacts the tilt of the chair. When you purchase our shock absorbing caster forks we will assemble it with the proper stem to match your chair. Knowing the CBTF helps us to ensure that your fork is customized for your chair to keep it at the exact same height. This is a very simple -- but very important! -- measurement.

To determine the CBTF height, measure from the bottom of the front wheel's caster barrel housing to the floor.

Shock Absorbing Caster Forks
for Rear-Wheel Drive Power Chairs

Big Rigs Fork

Overview

This shock absorbing powerhouse has same design and features of the Frog Legs Ultra-Sport with the strength and proportion to handle power chair and some adult tilt-in-space applications. Features

  • Big Rigs were designed to replace our very popular BULLFROG (all hard points are the same).

  • Suspension fork uses a "hinge" design encapsulating a high energy-absorbing polyurethane cylinder. The cylinder will flex to eliminate vibration and soften bumps by absorbing the force created when the front wheel strikes an object.

  • 3 inches of arch travel allowing the front wheel to lift back, up and over obstacles and prevent pitching.

  • Approved HCFA codes E1018R  and E1018L
